A French yacht reported missing has safely returned home following a rescue operation near the Channel Islands.
Guernsey Coastguard stated that they were alerted by French Coastguard officials around 08:40 BST on Saturday after receiving reports of a boat that had not returned on time. The yacht had departed from Jersey two days earlier with one person aboard.
Channel Islands Air Search located the yacht, which appeared to be disabled and drifting in rough waters, dangerously close to the path of a cruise ship. The sailor aboard was found safe and was reunited with his family after the French Coastguard brought the yacht back to safety, according to Guernsey Coastguard.
Channel Islands Air Rescue noted this was the second rescue for the yacht, following a power failure on Wednesday, southwest of Jersey.
