Guests and staff were evacuated from the Premier Inn in St Helier just after midnight on Thursday following smoke filling one of the corridors and triggering a fire alarm.
The Jersey Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of smoke visible on the second floor of the hotel on Bath Street. Upon arrival, firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus entered the building with a medium hose to investigate the source.
A second-floor room was quickly identified as the source of concern. However, once firefighters gained access, they confirmed there was no fire in the room, despite the smoke originating from it.
The cause of the smoke remains under investigation. Authorities noted that, given the potential scale of the incident, the States of Jersey Police and the Ambulance Service were also called to assist.
