The opening of Jersey's pop-up ice rink has been postponed by three weeks.
Originally set to open at the Weighbridge on 26 October in time for the school half-term, the rink will now welcome skaters on 15 November.
According to the Jersey Development Company (JDC), the delay is due to a contractor accidentally damaging an electricity cable. Specialist teams from the UK will be required to fix it.
The incident occurred when the worker was installing weather-proofing materials for the marquee and drilled a heavy-duty iron stake into the cable. A trench will need to be dug for repairs.
The JDC acknowledged that many children will be disappointed, as the rink was intended to open during the October half-term, and apologized for the unexpected delay.
They added that the new opening date of 15 November could still change depending on the progress of the repair work.
