A Jersey homeless charity is aiming to collect 15,000 tins of food to meet demand for its services.
It is the 15th time the The Shelter Trust has hosted its Tinathon event, which supports its work providing accommodation and support for the island's homeless population.
Organiser Richard Robins said demand for the shelter's services had "risen significantly over the past few years".
The event is due to take place on Friday at West's Centre, St Helier, between 08:00 and 14:30.
'Need support'
The charity asked for tins of meat, fish, vegetables, soup and fruit. It said the food would be used in the Shelter residences or for distribution in Jersey.
Mr Robins said: "This year, more than ever, we need the support of our community. "Over 100,000 meals were served by Shelter Trust in 2023 – at least 270 meals each day costing more than £80,000. "We don't just provide support from our eight premises. "Every single tin makes a difference, with your support, we can continue to provide much-needed help to those who need it most."
The event will also feature musical performances from artists including Victoria College Prep choir, Houndog Blues and Swing Style.
