Hairdressers Contribute to New World Record in Hairstyling

Two hairdressers from Jersey have made it into the Guinness World Records after participating in the largest-ever hair styling session.

Claudia Nunes from Inch Studio and Ana Franco from Anacabello were among around 1,200 stylists who took part in the challenge on the Spanish island of Ibiza.

The duo joined hairstylists from around the world, working on hundreds of volunteers who served as models during the event, held on Tuesday.

Mrs. Franco said, "It was quite unbelievable, to be honest, with so many of us there, and the atmosphere was amazing."

She explained, "We were only styling, no cutting or coloring. It was about transformations like going from straight hair to curly, or from hair down to hair up—nothing too permanent."

'Many Strict Rules'

The challenge, organized by an Italian hair products brand, took place in Ibiza Town’s Paseo de Vara de Rey square, which was transformed into an open-air salon. Mrs. Nunes said the record was for the most people styling hair at the same time. "Everyone had to start at the same time and style hair for exactly 10 minutes," she explained.

Although 600 hairdressers initially entered, only 478 were counted toward the record due to strict rules.

'Grateful to the Models'

Mrs. Nunes added that more models showed up than expected after a call went out on local media, so they ended up styling extra volunteers even though only the first model counted for the record. "We all did a few extra just to thank them for coming," she said.

Guinness World Records officials confirmed that the group successfully set the record, with 478 people styling hair simultaneously. Both stylists plan to display their certificates proudly in their salons.
