"Free GP Appointments Now Available for Students Over 18"

Jersey students aged 18 and over who are in full-time education now have access to free GP consultations.

The Government of Jersey announced that the initiative aims to support students' health and well-being by offering medical advice without financial concerns. Funding for the program will come from the Health Insurance Fund.

Students enrolled at most Jersey secondary schools, Highlands College, and those registered with Student Finance will be automatically included in the scheme. For others, applications can be made by contacting the Health Benefits Team in the Customer and Local Services department. The scheme does not cover home visits, out-of-hours services, or additional services like blood tests, pregnancy tests, referral letters, and other ancillary services.

Deputy Lyndsay Feltham, Minister for Social Security, stated: “Reducing GP fees is a government priority to help ease financial pressures on households. Improving access to primary care services and extending this support to students is essential.”
