Athlete Aims to Inspire More Swimmers Through Challenge

Jersey swimmer Filip Nowacki hopes the upcoming Children in Need Thousand Mile Challenge will inspire more people to take up swimming.

Staff at BBC radio stations across the British Isles, including Radio Jersey, will swim a collective 1,000 miles to raise funds for the charity, which supports local causes.

Nowacki, who broke the British 16-year-old 100m breaststroke record and won three Commonwealth Youth Games medals, has been advising the BBC Jersey team on tackling the challenge. He believes the event could “inspire some youngsters” and encourages people to “get in the pool with friends and have fun.”

The challenge begins Monday and wraps up on 8 November, with BBC Jersey finishing at AquaSplash pool.
